Staff Only day
Today at Stanley Ave the Staff learnt how to add posts to their class blogs
Wednesday, 3 December 2014
This term we have been researching and perfecting our expertise during My Time. We have each found something we want to research and learn more about. Some of us have made GIANT chocolate bars, some have made songs and some have learnt about different hair styles. Not to mention all of the delicious baking Miss Meredith has enjoyed sampling!! You can read more about this in our individual blogs, just click on our names!
This week Room Two are busy writing our own versions of Christmas songs. We are having a lot of fun doing so and have some pretty catchy lyrics!
We hope to update you soon with our very own music videos.

There were some very cute animals on display and our very own Matthew won six ribbons including reserve champion for leading, champion for breeding and second overall for his lamb! Well done Matty!!!
We have started practicing for our athletics day and have some very impressive long jumpers in room two!!
This term we have also started social dancing in preparation for the year 8 graduation at that end of this term.
Lots going on, and even more to look forward too! we will keep you updated throughout the term.

Hard to believe we are already two weeks into the Term!
This Term is going to be very busy with Cross Country, Winter Olympics, Speeches and much much more!
Our inquiry focus this Term is focusing on Te Aroha's past, present and future. So far we have already learnt a quite a few things we didn't already know about our town. We have had some pretty interesting debates about the L&P drink should actually be called L&T, as apparently it was originally from from Te Aroha!!
We also had Mr Spicer's mum Mrs Spicer come in and talk to us. She had quite a few interesting stories about Te Aroha's past, and Mr Spicer!!
There is still a lot about Te Aroha's past that we would like to know. If you or someone you know would be interested in talking to our class and sharing your stories we would love to hear from you.
This week we used our senses to write a poem about where we are from. These have been published under our individual blogs. There are some very talented writers in Room Two.

Term Two!!
Wow!! What a
full on Term we had!! At the end of Term One we said our farewells to Mrs
Patterson and welcomed Miss Meredith.
We spent the
term getting to know each other and working on our classroom environment, which
is now running very smoothly!
In
Mathematics we learnt all about statistics and now even know the
average score for the All Blacks vs Australia games since 2009 - How cool is
that?
We read
about some pretty cool topics too! Like how to make C02 cars (watch this space)
and how Mummies are made, sorry folks - we won’t be putting that information
into practice!!
For writing
and topic we learnt how to write different types of articles and reviews. We
even created our own magazine!!! It’s pretty cool if I do say so myself.. The
articles were well written and the display was fantastic - You should all be
very very proud of yourselves, I know I am!
We also had
plenty of other exciting events to keep us very very busy!!
We had the
Book Fair and Book Character day, which some of us dressed up for. There were
some very cool costumes.

Huge congratulations to our Year 7 and 8 Tackle Rugby Teams who took out the Thames Valley competition. A special well done to Hayley for getting player of the day!
We also had
teams compete in the BP Tech Challenge which we came third in.
The Inter-schools Maths Challenge, which we came first equal for
the Year 8's. And Kayley and Shakahn also came first in the Ngatea Intermediate
Chess Challenge. Phew what a Term full of achievements! Well done!!
Last but not
least, we were lucky enough to have the Ranfurly Shield visit us - Check out
our latest class photo.
Wow what a
jam packed Term Two we had. Somehow I think Term Three will be just as
busy!!

Finally our Graffiti art
The students to complete their Graffiti Art had to ensure they used:
Graffiti Style Letters
Bold and Colourful paints
Use two different water colour techniques
Rm 2 I am very impressed with the effort you put into your Graffiti Art. You should all be so proud.
