Inquiry:
This terms Inquiry is The Olympic Games, focussing on the controversial issues of The Games.

Speeches:
Week 1's home learning the students are to finalise their speech topic - this is to be discussed and approved by Ms Trow on Friday morning.

This week we have Parent Teacher interviews on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.  We would love all our parents to attend - if you haven't booked yet, please contact the office or Ms Trow direct to make a time.

Homework this week is to finish our individual time project ready for presentation tomorrow.  We are making a model of an aspect of time that we are presenting on.  Some examples of our research projects are:  the moon and its phases, the tides, the seasons, calendars, space, the earth and sun, and wormholes in space.

For our presentation we are making a model to present to.  Our presentation research will include:  What our time topic is, How this effects our lives, Any experiments we have undertaken for our research, What we've learnt in our research.

Week 7 & 8 in Room 2, Term 2

Week 8:

This week the student's homework is to finish publishing their History writing - they can hand write it if they have no internet connection at home.  They need to have their history topic brief (a paragraph or two) with their "what if" story after the brief.  We have been researching history events that interest us, and then thinking about "what if" it never happened?  Writing about what life would be like - the pros and cons - if that event never happened...  There are some great ideas coming through :)  Some student's have finished their published writing, so they have no other homework this week - just reading and spelling :)

Week 7:

Wednesday night the school had its Matariki celebration with the community.  What an awesome night!  The Rec Centre was beautifully decorated, with our class posters on display too.  The school Kapa Haka performed for us, and were amazing - well done group, especially Johnny who moved a lot of the audience with his powerful leadership :)  We then had a hangi and ended with a Matariki video presentation and a group Waiata.

For My Time on Thursday afternoons, the class is researching skills and activities that they are interested in and they will present back their learning at the end of the term.  Here we are in our 2nd week of My Time research:
