Mining trip

Last week on Friday, rooms 1,2 and 3 went to Waihi for a school trip about mining. We went to Martha mine, the discovery centre and and the education centre. In the education centre groups got to find real gold and the group with the most gold got to take some real gold home.When we went to Martha mine we got to have a guided bus tour around some of the places where the gold, silver and rock had to go. In the discovery centre we got to look at things like miniature sets and there was a ghost theatre but don't be fooled.The story in the ghost theatre was about a miner getting ready for his wedding day. All in all everyone had an awesome day and we also learnt heaps about mining.

For the last few weeks Room 3 has been learning the history of World War 1. We have begun creating videos to explain the events surrounding this terrible War. Below is the video created by Kurtis, Julian, and Olly.

The student lesson last week was run by Caitlin. She decided to teach the class Kung Fu. Here she is showing us how to kick effectively.

Room 2 reads to Room 5!

At Stanley Ave today, Gene and Josh visited Room 2 to read a picture book they had been practicing just for this occasion! This will be a regular thing in the afternoons from now on with each Room 2 student having a go throughout the year. Thanks Room 5 for letting us get involved!
